Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend following the squad's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the club - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves board as they begin the process of hiring a new head coach.

O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock choice considering he was released by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham midfielder is out of work which means Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
