It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

It needed until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was out Australia needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
